2015 USC Harbor Cup Team (2)

Friday, March 13:

Ten teams sailed off Pt Fermin in unseasonably warm weather and 10 knots of puffy breeze and choppy waters. Navy Offshore sailing won the first race leading all the way. College of Charleston won the second race and Cal Maritime the third race. Cal Maritime sits in the lead just one point ahead of Charleston.

Saturday, March 14:

Racing resumed in 5 knots of breeze and flat water after a brief postponement. Five races were sailed with four different team getting a bullet. CoC won two races but still trail Cal Maritime by 1 point. The wind picked up to about 8 knots under warm sunny skies.

Sunday, March 15:

The forecast looked really bad for the final day of racing but luckily they got it wrong. Two races were run in 7-10 knots of breeze and mild seas. Navy came out swinging winning the first race taking the third overall spot from USC. In the final race Mass Maritime had a spectacular start and got the bullet. Cal Maritime finished in front of Charleston to claim their 5th Harbor Cup in a row. A nice parting gift to Director of Sailing Charlie Arms who will retire from Cal Maritime next month. Thanks to the Port of LA for their sponsorship and to Los Angeles Yacht Club and PRO Tom Trijillo and his RC.
